You can still walk across the Memorial Bridge. You will have to observe the signs requiring you to walk your bicycle, but you will be able to cross the bridge. If you have a moped or a scooter, you are required to walk the vehicle across the bridge. The Maine and NH DOT has indicated that they are being overly cautious by requiring that the cycles be walked across rather than being ridden.
Take the Sarah Mildred Long Bridge. Getting off at Market Street will allow you to get easy access to the Portsmouth Parking Garage on Hanover Street (right turn at the stop sign), or to Bow Street (turn left at the stop sign), or directly to Market square. If you are going to the South End, you can take Bow Street, continuing on Chapel Street to State, continuing on State turning right on Marcy Street.
